Citizen Kane: Review
Citizen Kane is a movie about Chales Foster Kane’s life. What I like about this movie is
the way that the story is told. The director Orson Welles, who also interprete Mr. Kane’s
character, tells the story based on the memories of the people who knew Mr. Kane
(flashbacks).
The opening secuence really emphasize what is the movie going to be about. The first
images that we see is Mr. Kane’s mansion and it shows how lonely his owner should be; then
Mr. Kane died and the last word he said is “Rosebud” so later on a reporter started a
investigation to find out why that was Mr. Kane’s last word.
We can see manipulation of time a couple of times, the first time is when they are in
the opera, one of the spectator start riping a sheet of paper and the camera moves but it
comes back the sheet of paper is completely rip. There’s another example of manipulation of
time in movie and it is when Mr. Kane’s wife is doing a doing jigsaw puzzles where the
director use a transitions to see the puzzle completed.
One of the scenes that I really like is where Mr. Kane is clapping at the Opera because
you can tell how frustrated he was by his wife’s performance and also desperate for other
people to like his wife’s job. Speaking of his wife’s performance you can also tell during the
movie and specially when it comes to his wife in the opera that Mr. Kane really manipulated
