ability after reading Chapters 1 and 2. Please type your responses and bold them, or highlight
them in yellow. This exercise is worth up to 15 points. You may earn up to 10 points for
completing all questions to the best of your ability and up to 15 points if all answers are correct.
However, you will lose points if you leave questions completely blank.

1. For each of the following variables, determine whether the variable is categorical/qualitative
or numerical/quantitative. If the variable is numerical/quantitative, determine whether the
variable is discrete or continuous.

2. The following information is collected from students upon exiting the campus bookstore
during the first week of classes. Please classify each of these variables as categorical/qualitative
