Childhood Progression
In the story “The Monkey Garden “ by Sandra Cisneros, the narrator opens up and
explores the relationship between a group of children and a garden. The garden means everything
for these kids and is their safe house from the outside world, but as the story goes along the
garden takes a toll for the worst and that sense of happiness and enjoyment that these kids felt
was once there has faded. There are various meanings to the garden as perceived by the narrator
and her friends but only on certain/different occasions that those meanings would ultimately
