Through the years various crimes have taken place involving children. Crimes against
children include physical and emotional abuse, neglect and exploitation. It can happen through
means of child pornography, sex trafficking of minors and child abductions. “Child-related
crimes often are perpetrated by parents, relatives, caretakers, and others who are charged with
their care and guidance” (Crimes Against Children.” (Findlaw, criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-
charges/crimes-against-children.html.). This paper will focus on the implementation of the
AMBER alert and how it has helped bring hundreds of children back home.
Child abduction is not something that necessarily has a start date. The public only know
about it if it is reported. One of the first reported child abductions was in 1874 of Charles
Brewster Ross known as “Charley”. He was born on May 4th, 1870 and disappeared on July 1st,
