Weird Texas Speech
Texas is unique. The history of Texas is rich with battle, strife, pride, and power. The
people of Texas have always had a reputation of independence, strength and honor. Texas has
not always been a part of the United States. Texas is unique because six flags have flown over
Texas, each flag representing a different nation who claimed and controlled the territory of
Texas. No other state in the United States has been its own nation. That is how the famous
amusement park, Six Flags, took its name. I found most of the facts I am using about Texas’s
history and the nations which controlled Texas from Sanjacinto-museum.org, TexasProud.com,

Spain was the first nation to claim sovereignty over Texas. Spain ruled Texas from 1519
