In adolescents, young girls are expected to take a nurturing role. Toys, particularly dolls,
encourage that girls take a maternal role and build a family in which she supports the man. The
towering giant of the doll manufacturing company, Barbie, has challenged the altruistic role that
women must play to fit into societal standards. Barbie defies stereotypical women roles by
placing its female dolls in diverse roles that society find unusual for a woman to be in. Barbie
challenges the woman role, but since her conception, she represents the question on what a
