School Management vs. Democracy
Democracy is generally described by Abraham Lincoln’s closing phrase from his
Gettysburg Address, delivered on November 19, 1863, “Government of the people, by the
people, for the people”. According to the U.S Department of State democracy is a form of
government used by the American nation to secure peace, deter aggression, expand open
markets, promote economic development, protect American citizens, combat international
terrorism and crime, uphold human and worker rights, avoid humanitarian crises and
refugee flows, improve the global environment, and protect human health (department of
state). By supporting democracy, fundamental values such as religion freedom, worker
rights are supported, and it helps to create a more secure, prosperous, and stable gridiron
that the U.S can accelerate its national interests.
School management is procedure or system to progress education by conveying vital
decision making authority from state and district offices to schools. This provides
principals, teachers, parents, and students greater control over the education process by
giving them responsibility for decisions about the personnel, budget, and curriculum.
School management can produce effective learning environments for children (Myers).
When executing school management, the school board and superintendent must be
supportive of the management. They must also trust the principals and council to negotiate
how to implement the district’s goals at the individual schools. It is vital to have a contract
