Causal Analysis Exercise
Describe your like or dislike for a specific book, person, film, writer, actor, or college subject
and the reasons why; what led to this like/dislike?
Growing up I was surrounded by my mom my aunts, uncles, and my two brothers. I used
to wonder how come my dad wasn’t living with us but since I was little I was having so much
fun with people around me that it didn’t really bother me much whether my dad was there or not.
I knew that my parents weren’t together because obviously my dad wasn’t living with us.
Sometimes he came to see me and my brothers and buy us candies and tell us stories.
The more I started growing, the more I started becoming more curious to know why did
my parents are not together. There will be times when my mom, my brothers and I will sit down
and talk about anything. Sometimes we would ask out mom to tell us funny stories about us
when we were little and we would start laughing; but I didn’t really have funny stories because
when I was young I was always sick and there’s was nothing funny about that. One day I asked
my mom why she’s not with dad and the first thing that came out of her mouth was that “your
father is the meanest person I’ve ever seen”. She would get into more details about it.
She started telling me about me being sick all the time when I was young and that my dad
was never there for me. She said that she was the one getting me medicines and everything. That
story made me cry and I saw the way my dad is in my own experiences. There was a time that
my brothers and I had to stay with our dad because the school that we were going to was close to
