Communication:
As I began my career analysis, my goal was to get further insight
and direction to narrow down my career choices. Originally, I had
begun my academic career under the impression I wanted to become a
registered nurse. After being accepting into the nursing program at
Umass Dartmouth, I soon realized this was not the field I should be in.
Despite math and science being my strong suits, I could not imagine a
career in nursing. I decided to enter the school of business, knowing it
would give me a strong educational foundation. I have always wanted
a career working with people and making a di!erence, which I why I
went into nursing. However, I knew that will a business degree, I would
be able to incorporate this goal and find a career that was a better fit.
Upon arrival to this specific class I had come to the conclusion that my
degree was the perfect match. I was also aware of my interest, and
had narrowed down my many options. The gap in my situation is
relatively small due to the fact that I have narrowed down my choices.
At this point in time I am finishing my degree with a strong idea of
what I would like to do. However, I would like to be at the point where I
have a concrete career and secure a position prior to graduation.
Having a particular plan in mind helps to put me at ease as
graduation closes in. I don’t feel particularly stressed or anxious about
my future career. In fact, I feel quite confident that I will succeed. I feel
as if I have a far better understanding of what I would like to do than
those around me. Having had the opportunity to work and volunteer
has really guided and given me direction. I have continued to excel in
my business classes and have found them both educational and
interesting. After hearing that some classmates had already secured a
