As much as General Motors has struggled through the years, they continue to persevere
until this day in the face of countless forces affecting their everyday decisions. They and the rest
of the automobile industry must hold fast against ever growing demands from technological
advances, demographic preferences, economic impact such as gas prices, and global competition.
GM has had major difficulties and issues with defects in their designs that tragically caused the
loss of multiple lives. Not only did this effect stock, media, sales and their character, they had to
pay for the mistakes they made with compensation towards the families and fix the defects as
well as spend even more funds for their R&D department to find the resolution to their flaws.
After being hired as the new CEO for the corporation, Mary T. Barra vowed to get the company
back on track and move them under a positive spotlight again.
