CASE STUDY-1 ETHICAL DILLAMA:
Ans-1
Kohalberg’s Model of Cogenitive Development:
It is a model which classify people into three stages according to there behavior at the workplace with
their organization, coworkers, and managers etc.
According to this model in the beginning Helen is at the second stage; conventional stage ( people at
this stage follow the tradition build at the workplace and do not adopt their own way, in other words
they work according to organization’s rules and regulations). As she has started her work well just like all
al other new administrative assistant. She is following the organization’s rules and moral ethics
boundaries. But as time passes and she get stalled there she began not to abide by the moral
ethics of either the workplace or the society. Then we can say that at the later part of the case
study Helen is at the third stage; principled stage ( people at this stage go ahead with their own
set of rules and regulation, they set their own boundaries of ethics.) Although it is unethical to
abuse drug at the workplace, but she was catch red handed while using drugs. And it is against
the organization well-being to borrow money but do not return it on time. Excess sick leaves also
enhance her unethical business actions. Although she knew that the use of drug has lot of
drawbacks and she would be accountable for them but she do not pay attention on the
punishments hence it is clear that she is not at the pre-conventional stage.
