1. What has God said about families?
God has taught His children many things about families. For me, there are two key things that
have been revealed. First, families are eternal when the sacred ordonnances and covenants of the
temple are obtained (Proclamation, paragraph 3). Second, “The family is ordained of God”
(Proclamation, paragraph 7). We are taught these doctrines time and time again. They are the
cornerstone of every aspect of Heavenly Father’s plan for us, His spirit children. We come to
Earth, to an earthly family, so that we can grow and become better, to return home to Heavenly
Father (see “I am a Child of God,” Hymn #301). It is through families that we gain a heavenly
home. It is through families that we “be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:22). It is with families
that we make sacred covenants. Families are where God designed us to be. By creating a
family, and striving as a whole to follow the will of the Lord, we are doing as He commands.
