The findings of project oxygen and how functions approach, Mintzberg’s roles approach, and
the skills approach comes into play
In the case study How to build a better boss, project oxygen was mentioned. Here is where
the first step in functioning approach comes into play for Google. The first function is planning,
and here is where the planning of goals and a development of an agenda on how this goal will be
achieved occurs. In the case study the main goal for Google was to find information on what a
good manager is therefore Project Oxygen was created. Project Oxygen main focus was to measure
what is a good manager and how the company could create them. Using data from performance
review, feedback surveys and supporting papers for applicants for the top manager awards was
