I think that at first I would try to talk with my friend to tell him that it is okay if he wants to quit, but
that he should do it in person and not by not showing up. If that does not work and I have to be
the one who tells my boss I would tell him exactly what is happening, that my friend is not happy
with the job and that he is not going to go anymore.
In that case I would try to go with the truth because hiding it from my boss could be worst if they
find out another way. That way I would accept the responsibility for what I did.
I would take the complaint to my boss and to the HR representative. I would try to step away
and let the people who know about the topic to take care of it and choose the course of action
that has to be taken.
