1. What are the pros and cons of retaining Bartomeu’ as President?
I think that this depends on how you look at Bartomeu’. On the pro’s side, he has a very
good business sense and knows what it will take to keep the team winning, profitable,
and relevant. The downside is that there is a sizeable portion of the socis that have their
minds set of the things that do not necessarily help the club financially. It seems that
this could be considered a nostalgia or possibly just wanting to highlight the fact that
Barca is indeed different from other major clubs. One of the major ways they do this is
by not having a major sponsor on their shirts. On one hand, this does distinguish them
from other clubs. On the other, that sponsorship gives them much more freedom when it
comes to acquiring the best players, financing other sports, spending so much on the
youth program and making improvements to their facilities.
2. What are the pros and cons of the European Youth Soccer Development model?
Should NFL and NBA teams adopt this model? Why or why not?
Pro – The European youth soccer development model develops some of the top athletes
in their field by immersing them in their sport from a young age. This allows the athlete
to develop to their highest potential. Sometimes this program gives them opportunities
that they would not have or been able to afford otherwise.
