Rule of Law: A business in New Jersey shall not violate the dram shop liability doctrine. This
doctrine inhibits a server from serving alcohol to a visibly intoxicated individual or else the server
will share responsibility for any injury suffered by a third-party as a result of the intoxication.
Facts: Ayhan Hakimoglu, a constituent of two major Atlantic City casinos, attempted to recover
gambling losses incurred while intoxicated through the court system. Ayhan claimed that casino
members had “intentionally and maliciously” enticed him to gamble while intoxicated. Ayhan
