1. Identify critical success factors for the system integration of the two practices discussed in the
Mini-case summary. Critical success factors identify areas that will need monitoring in order for
the organization to work smoothly. When integrating MMG and OGMC the managerial position
(internal) will be of importance due to the differences in financial structure. With the OGMC
having high receivables and a history of missed payments leading to a higher accounts payable
balance, MMG will be able to help them re-organize finances and hopefully lower their accounts
payable over time. Temporal factors (internal) will also need to be addressed as the network
serves are no secure, backed up or climate controlled.
2. List some of the master data and transactional date elements that should be captured and
managed. What is the difference between these types of data elements? A master date is static
and comes patient, provider and billing code data within the transactional data. This is the basic
data a patient such as their home address, who insures them. Etc. Transactional data deals with
transactions within the company and involves actual invoices and receipts. Keeping tabs on this
is important because it gives as to the previous records od the company as well as patient
payment history.
3. How would you secure access to the data and what personnel implications do you forsee? How
do you ensure that the proper records are updated in a timely manner? Data security is of the
upmost in the health care field and is outlines by HIPPA. Primary concerns include releasing
private and personal health information, protection against spyware and viruses, disaster
recovery, and permitting those who are allowed to access only the data needed for their work.
