5-18. First, how would you recommend we go about reducing the turnover in our stores?
• With the way that the world moves so fast, most every business has its point when it
must face turnover in their stores. For the reducing of these turnovers for the Carter’s, I
would personally suggest a better hiring process. To have skills is not enough when one
only has a high school diploma, but we also must think about things like the
personalities of employees and customers. To ask ourselves if the person being hired or
employed is actually positively contributing to the team or company. Retaining
employees, while rewarding them with promotions and incentives it is also a way to
reduce turnovers.
5-19. Provide a detailed list of recommendations concerning how we should go about increasing our
pool of acceptable job applicants, so we no longer face the need to hire almost anyone who walks in the
door.
• Internal Candidates: job posting is unsuitable because the company would need a
permanent staff before promoting someone.
• Rehiring: if hiring someone who has already worked for is, is possible then it would
create a lot of benefits to the company such as reduced training costs and employee’s
