Drive: Front wheel or rear wheel
Car’s have been around since 1886, when mercedez first started building their cars. Now,
we have all different kinds of automobiles with so many car manufacturers and different types of
cars. With that, there arrive many questions, like how well the vehicle runs, how much
horsepower there is, and how safe it is.. Everything factors in one thing which all depends on
how much the manufacturers are known for what they do with their cars. But, one of the big
questions that arrives is that when selecting a vehicle, why do many people first look at the car
front wheel powered or back wheel powered. Many opinions surround the idea that front wheel
drive is better while others say rear wheel drive is safer and better. While many seem to support
that front wheel drives are better because they have more traction in the snow which makes them
safer, more fuel efficient, and have more power as in them since it is close to the engine.
Front wheeled powered cars are in fact more popular in newer cars as they are mostly
used for everyday drive. According to Eric Peters, he advocates that, “In a front-wheel-drive
(FWD) car, the transmission and axle are combined into one unitthe transaxleand mounted
directly to the engine…The compact transaxle unit also saves space, and makes installing the
drivetrain on the production line much simpler. This is one reason why most of today’s new cars
are smaller and more fuel efficient than their rear-wheel-drive (RWD) predecessors. Front-
wheel-drive cars also offer the advantage of greater traction on snow- or rain-covered streets.

of the drive wheels” (par.3). He basically says that if the wheels are farther back from the main
source which is the engine, then it will take the engine more power to send the power back to the
wheel and make it spin. While if it is front wheel it is easier and quicker for the wheel to spin
with more power and the more power it has the more better it has as in terms of traction and bad
weather such as snow. As Ben Stewart supports that, “…Today, the majority of family cars are
front-drive. Through it all, cars meant to be driven fast for fun have been steadfastly rear-driven.
But all the while, drivers of less exotic front-drive sedans have taunted the rear-drive advocates
with the front-drive’s superior wet-weather traction and stability” (par.1). Points out that over the
years many cars have become smaller and smaller because the front wheel gets more power from
the engine since it’s close then there is less need for longer vehicles as well as take the weight off
