Carrying Guns in College & University Campus
Recent incidents of shooting in different college and university campuses all around
United States have raised many question whether one should carry guns or not in campus
areas. Such violence in educational campuses is a worrying sign, not only for authorities,
but for society as well. The question is whether students and teachers are actually safe
carrying guns in campus. The answer maybe is no. Facts are not supporting campus carry
as no one has been able to reduce crime through this. Increasing shooting incidents at
educational campuses are showing an alarming situation that if student is carrying gun in
campus, and if he is going through any mental illness, how dangerous it can be. Looking at
all the recent facts and figures, and overall situation of the society, it is evident that
carrying guns in campus should not be allowed, because more than safety, it puts
everyone’s life in danger (Vaidyanathan, 2014)
Educational campuses are supposed to be places of peace and safety, where people from
every walk of life come to get education. So, at a place such like this, is there any need to
carry guns, and for what reasons. It may be said that people carry guns in campus for their
own safety, but why they feel so. If someone is threatening them or security situation is
looking dangerous, or campus has received threats from any terrorist organization, then
