There are many careers fields to choose from in the financial service industry but the
most coveted career to me in my opinion is a position of a financial planner. Financial planners
help individuals with developing plans that will ensure current and future financial stability.
Financial planners perfect a logical plan investing as well as saving that fits the client’s financial
goal. The Financial plan itself might focus on investment growth, wealth preservation, and it
possibly may include tax and real estate planning. The majority of financial planners are
employed by small or large companies, local based firms, or for single individuals. Financial
planners often charge a percentage of assets under management or charge flat fees and receive
commission on products they sell.
Financial planners that have Certified Financial Planner Designation are in the demand
than other planners. A planner must obtain three years of financial planning experience and in
addition he or she must past several exams which includes a 10 hour case study and two day
exam as well as meeting the continuing education requirements. (NAPFA, n.d.)
Corporate finance careers are more sophisticated and may involve acquisitions activity
and mergers. To illustrate, determining the value of division for spin off or calculating the
acquisition target value. Corporate Finance positions can be filled in companies and
organizations of all sizes which may include international entities. Corporate finance positon
may consist of treasurers, financial analysts, internal and external auditors, pubic accounting, and
