There are thousand ideas about your career that run at the back of your mind when you’re
a teenager. It’s difficult to identify what exactly you want to do in life. There are so many
career options available that you often fail to identify what suits you the best. I too faced
this similar situation. If not finance, then I would have chosen to pursue law. Criminal law
was something that I always wanted to study. As a teenager, crime stories in the newspaper
and murder mystery novels always struck my interest. I loved watching short
documentaries on crime. I think it is important for citizens of every country to have
knowledge about the law system of their country. Criminal law requires a lot of
brainstorming, intellectual thinking, dedication and smartness. Few years ago, I would read
and hear stories how poor and uneducated people were wrongly convicted for the crime
they had not committed. Wrong conviction was only because these people had no idea
about the law. The people were not in position to hire strong and influential lawyers who
could fight their case. Many such people have and are still spending their lives behind bars.
This gave me an inspiration to study law and fight for the innocent people. I think
providing such help to these people would inspire even aspiring lawyers to take up such
social tasks and help the people in need. Therefore, if I had to choose an alternate career
option then it would have been a criminal lawyer.
