Research proposal
Recently, dog fighting has decreased in the past couple years, there has still been cases of
them in today’s date and time. Different cities and country have experienced dog fighting related
incidents across the world. Due to people breeding dogs strictly for fighting has caused a
decrease in adoptions and increase in ethnicization towards certain breeds. Although there are
facts that all dog breeds can be dangerous people believe Pit bulls, German Shepherds, and
Rottweilers to be the most commonly bred dogs known to be dangerous. What information
should people learn about dog breeds?
Information will be gathered to explore the truth about “the dangerous breeds”. The main
research question is: Are these breeds more dangerous than other dog breeds? Secondary
informative questions could include:
• How did these breeds become so widely known for dog fighting?
• Is there a way to inform society they aren’t bad dogs?
• If a dog has a dog fighting past can it be rehabilitated?
• How can we stop bans on certain breeds in banning areas?
• How can we stop the discrimination against these breeds?
• How common is dog fighting today?
• How can we control the rate of dog fights?
• Is there a way to turn a bad reputation into a good one for these breeds?
• What was the sole purpose for these breeds to be bred for originally?
The working thesis is that dog fighting is still an issue in todays society and the animals
