Title: Reaction of Zinc metal and Iodine
Purpose; To react zinc with iodine to demonstrate the law of conservation of
mass, determine percent yield, and the limiting reactant.
Zn + I2 ➔ ZnI2
Calculations (using stoichiometry, calculate the theoretical yield of zinc iodide from the
reaction of 2.0 grams of zinc with 2.0 grams of iodine)

Goggles should be worn at all times. Keep methanol in the hood, do not breathe
vapors. Gloves should be worn when handling iodine and methanol.
