Byzantine Empire and Western Europe between 700-1300 CE
Although the Western Europe and the Byzantine Empire were once joined together as one
state, they decided to split, thus creating a lot of differences in terms of economic and political
systems. There were also various similar ideas and concepts that were derived from the Roman
Empire and were practiced even after the regions were separated. Some of the similarities that
can be drawn from the two regions can be shared with their trading systems because of the low
performing economies and the sudden decline in wealth and population of the vast systems. The
differences revolve around the connections between the Silk Road and the centralized power of a
ruler.
The methods of political rule were quite different and it varied greatly because the
Eastern section of Europe emphasized on imperial rule while the Western Europe emphasized on
