Employers Big and Small Are Giving Workers Election Day Off

Companies shut down to give their employees a chance to vote on November 8,2016. This
Inspired by California venture capitalist Hunter Walk, the campaign began earlier this summer
when Walk asked start-up founders to give their employees time off on Election Day, asking
them to tweet or email him for notification. How cool is that? This election has been like no
other. These companies valued their employees and knew that this stressful decision required a
chance to focus on election day. Although the candidate I voted for did not win, I truly had a
great experience on voting day. I rallied up family and friends to make sure they got to the
company that cares about me this way.
