Business Torts and Ethics
After analyzing the scenario provided in the reading, the situation presented, although
serious, left some detail out. In my opinion, certain details are purposely left out in order for all
readers to interpret your thoughts differently. The intruder is completely liable for his or her
actions. The intruder deliberately trespasses in Sharon’s ground-floor apartment. Trespassing,
in definition, is to consciously enter another person’s property without their consent (Legal
Information Institute”, n.d.). The scenario states that the intruder forced the lock on the sliding
glass door in order to let himself or herself in. Forced entry is considered breaking and entering.
The intruder committed a criminal law and in the situation, it is unknown of the intruder’s intent
due to the fact that Sharon noticed the intruder early on which led to her screaming in fear.
