Hospitality and COVID-19: How long until ‘no vacancy’ for US hotels?

Summary
COVID-19 has affected businesses the world over. From small scale local shops to
international trading companies. One of the hardest hit industries is that of hotels. Travel in
general has been cut down or even stopped since the outbreak began. The hotel industry feels
that affect directly and must make changes if they wish to survive. There are different measures
that can be taken to ensure this survivability and these can be approached in slightly altered
attacks depending on the hotel; such as economy versus luxury hotels.
High vacancy is the problem that most hotels are seeing today, with no real end
anywhere in sight. Changes in revenue per available room and the unemployment rate are
directly influencing this. Other factors include shelter-in-place restrictions, travel policies, and
