A business plan is a written document containing a business’s goals and strategies, as
well as how they plan to achieve their goals. Business plans are often used as a roadmap for the
business, but they are also presented to potential shareholders. They contain important
information ranging from detailed company history to financial projections in order to persuade
investors. Business plans are widely considered a necessity when starting or running a company.
Most plans are created following an established outline of common topics with some
variation for every business. A typical plan starts with an executive summary, which is
essentially a mission statement. It can be modified based on whether they are applying for a loan
or providing information to investors. Usually, it outlines what the business does and why it will
