Business Marketing Technology
In the world of business, marketing is a very important discipline that is constantly used.
Marketing is mostly focused on advertising and the way businesses/people can use advertising is
to make financial goals for themselves. Since technology has been growing exponentially, firms
are having more trouble pulling in people who need help with advertising their products and the
new inventions that are coming out. Different technologies are helping people market their own
products independently without the help of these major business firms. This will make firms less
money because they will not, in any way, create business for these firms.
When focusing on this discipline of marketing, sales and advertising interested me the
most. As a detailer at a car wash, I had to detail the cars that come to the shop and use certain
products to take care or the cars. This made me think of different ways to market these services
to customers. Because I know all the services offered, I was trying to figure out what the best
method of marketing these services would be to make more revenue and get more customers in
the door. Being trained within the company, I was able to become knowledgeable in the method
of selling products to our customers and I became a good sales representative. Because I was a
good sales person, I was making more money and helping my company make money. This made
me interested in sales and it made me look into different majors that involve sales and
advertisement. When researching some majors, I came across the field of marketing and it had
everything I was looking for and more. I felt it would be a good fit for me because I like the
different techniques of sales and I would like to understand the way the whole business of
marketing works.
Marketing focuses on sales and advertising. The different strategies and sales approaches
that are used in advertising are easier for us to find and implement. There are many ways

marketing is being used by people. Marketing is not only being used to sell a product, but is also
used to create and “sell” entertainment for many people. There are many ways people make their
money through marketing, which does not only have to be on TV or billboards, but can also be
from popular apps/sites. Examples like YouTube and Vine also allow people to make money by
bringing in followers; the more you have and the more videos you post, the more you can bring
in money. These people can have anywhere between 500,000 to 10 million followers, and many
of them built their followers by doing comedic stunts or something artistic that people may enjoy
watching. This is self-serve advertising, which is the “ability of an advertiser to place their own
ads without the assistance of an actual advertising sales representative” (Business Dictionary).
This helps to reduce cost for themselves, as well as gives them more money to meet their
financial goals.
