The writer interviewed and wrote of a young factory owner in Michigan. An entrepreneur, Anita-
Maria Quillen, 35, is struggling to expand her business and create jobs. Mr. Quillen stated that
she and many companies could not find workers who were qualified to work on the
manufacturing jobs. They lacked good work habits, especially, the generation who is familiar
with screens. 37 percent of Jackson high school graduates do not go to college, but they do not
always have evident that there are jobs for them. The companies require higher skills that can
handle robots on the assembly line. Unemployment in Jackson is low, but their income is
actually 11 percent lower than in 2005. Even if the president Trump promised the deep tax cut
for small companies, Mr. Quillen said there is no need to hire more people unless your are
adding more sales, but she invest in the employees she has. By giving employees more skills, she
can justify paying them more, she mentioned.
