Business Ethics
Unethical behavior is not conforming to approve standards of social or professional
behavior. With reading chapter four and watching “ The Smartest Men in the Room” I
learned a lot about what good and bad ethics are. With this information there are a lot of
different opinions on ethical manners with Enron employees. In chapter four and the
movie, it gives clear definitions and examples of ethics, unethical and ethical behaviors.
Considering these informational tools I found a personal view of ethics, from Enron’s
unethical behavior and illegal activities, Mark to Market accounting, Enron’s
integrity-based ethics codes, and the civil penalties of Enron’s employees.
After reading and observing these illustrations and examples of ethics, that have many
different personal views. Ethics is a well-based standard of right and wrong of what
people should do, typically in defining their rights, responsibility, benefit’s to society,
equality, and detailed qualities. These ethical values include those who mix truthful,
consideration, and dependability. I believe feelings, laws, and social norms can diverge
from what is ethical. With constantly pushing others, striving for the best, and believing in
others can lead to a sturdy base of ethics. With that, it is necessary to calculate one’s
principles to make certain they are reasonable and well founded.
Enron once was a very large, and successful business whom which went bankrupt in 2002.
Good ethics is to compete reasonably and to communicate with honesty within a business.
