Business Ethics
Business ethics, often referred as corporate ethics simply involves understanding
and doing what is right in business. It is founded on several theories such as deontology
which advance the idea that the business owner has a duty or an obligation to judge and
choose to do what is right as opposed to what is most profitable. Business owners are
often faced with ethical dilemmas to choose between what is right, what is lawful and
what is profitable. There is no nexus between the three approaches. The law tries to
protect the consumer and producer at the same time. However, considering the nature
of the market (free market) it is not possible to get to the core of business operations
