Working at the capital, the discussion of social problems are an everyday process.
Under senator Bettencourt’s office I believe the staff is effective in approaching social
issues and problems concerning not only property tax issues but also accepting almost
any concerned phone call on any particular issue. Currently Texas is not in session but
when it is almost every office in the Texas capital is capable in making legislative bills to
eradicate social problems. Working with Bettencourt’s office I believe extra resources in
transportation and extra payroll to support 2 or 3 more employees can significantly help
the internal activities especially during session. Currently in Bettencourt’s office where I
work, the resources are stretch to its furthest usefulness in terms of productivity. One
example being that if an employee fails to do he or shes duties even in times of low stress
environments will get disbanded from the position. Witch did in fact happen. Also many
of the office supplies and man power are efficiently used and stored. As for
improvements, the capital building needs better wheel chair access, better food choices,
and better elevators. Many times people with physical disabilities have more of a hard
time getting around the capital than they should. My time served at the Capital has led me
to see how social problems arise and meet controversy and finaly a resoluttoin. This
