I’m so glad to have a chance talking with you about my reflection of your works
Wide Sargasso Sea. To be honest, upon I went through Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre
at the age of twelve, the first idea came into my mind is the unmoral of extramarital
love and the identity of Bertha. Of course I’ve been told that Bertha was once a noble
girl of great fortune and then a mad woman at attic, but who exactly she was before
she was described as a poor lunatic, I was really doubt about that. It was definitely
your book that offered a potential answer for my inner world and helped me have a
further insight into cultural identity and feminism monster.
As Wilde said, every saint has not to be divulged in the past, and every sinner
has a spotless future. I am always strongly convinced that Bertha or Antoinette is not
just a blue–blood girl with no story. From being called as a “white cockroach” to a
