ADVANCED OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
PROJECT GUIDELINES
MS. MAHVESH MAHMUD
A. Objective:
The final project for Advanced Operations Management should focus on a real-life operations-related problem
facing an organization/industry and your project report should help the organization/industry over-come this
problem through the proposal that you make.
B. Project Documentation:
1. A one-page topic approval draft should be submitted to the instructor (SEE APPENDIX I) as soon as
possible. Once this is approved you may proceed with the field-work.
2. The project report cover page is in Appendix II. You may use this or further improve it for submission.
3. The project report should not be more than 10 pages long.
4. It can have as many appendices as you want. This means that you can add
data/diagrams/statistics/tables/extra information at the end of the report.
5. It should follow an APA style of referencing/formatting.
6. The font-size should be 12 Times-New Roman, block justified. Page numbers should not be missing.
7. The diagrams should be properly labeled and sourced. It should be spell-checked and counter-checked
before submission.
8. All aspects/topics explored in the report should have ATLEAST 3 TO 5 QUANTITATIVE
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT concepts which have been done in class that should be applied to
the topic of choice. These should NOT OVERLAP WITH OTHER GROUPS IN CASE THEY
CHOOSE THE SAME INDUSTRY/ORGANIZATION.
9. The report should be submitted on the day of the deadline announced by the instructor along with a
feedback form (SEE APPENDIX III) signed and stamped by the person contacted in the organization of
choice. This is to be attached the beginning of the report.
10. A soft-copy of the report should be e-mailed to the instructor on the day of the submission along with
presentation slides.
Failure to meet these requirements will result in negative marking!
C. Choice of Industry/Organization:
The group may choose an industry or an organization to explore and understand the taught operations
management concepts and issues. Industry analysis will result in a macro-level analysis while organizational-
level analysis will result in a micro-level analysis. There has to be a clear understanding of the two and the
measures and metrics used for each will therefore be different.
The different organizations can be explored in the following industries:

D. Operations Management Topics to be explored in the Organization/Industry of
Choice:
The real-life problem or issue that your group may explore can be organized into the following
