Analysis
Business: Caribbean Athletic Improvement Agency (CAIA)
Project: Sporting Caribbean (First all Caribbean sports magazine)
Business Type: Non-Profit Sports Organization
President/CEO: Yves M.E Goedschalk
Location: Paramaribo, Suriname
Email: Info@sportingcaribbean.com
Vision
CAIA is a sports foundation focused on educating, guiding and motivating the Caribbean youth to
develop themselves and the region through participation in sports. Together with a very talented and
dedicated group we were able to put together the first Caribbean sports magazine. The Caribbean as a
whole possesses a lot of talented, motivated, and dedicated young athletes. However, due to the lack of
resources, training, and coaching some of these athletes are often not noticed. Sporting Caribbean was
developed to highlight upcoming athletes in the Caribbean to ensure they get the proper exposure to
obtain various athletic scholarships. The magazine also promotes and follows the journey of professional
Caribbean athletes in the Caribbean and abroad. In this edition we want to especially shine light on the
Caribbean student-athlete abroad, because the ideal situation for any athlete is to enjoy a good education
through a athletic scholarship. Even though a very small group of athletes receive Sports scholarships,
there are Caribbean scholar athletes that belong to this very élite group. These Caribbean Athletes are
successful on the playing field, in the classroom and in their respected communities’. By doing so they
take the title of student athletes to a higher standard and strengthen the Caribbean on the world map.
Mission
Scholarships are offered in different amounts. Not everyone will qualify for a full scholarship to a High
School or University. With that in mind the CAIA wants to use part of the funds received from the sales
of the magazine to create scholarships opportunities for talented Caribbean athletes. Making it possible

for the youth to get a higher education, and develop their athletic ability. Furthermore the CAIA wants to
invest in coaches’ clinics, equipment, and high performance camps. On another note we from the CAIA
also want shine a light on athletes with a disability. We feel the need to educate the Caribbean on ways
for people with a disability to excel in the sports world.
Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence:
1. Leadership: How upper management leads the organization, and how the
organization leads within the community.
