Subject: 2017/2018 Funding Cuts
I am responding to last week’s email stating that all community arts organizations will be subject
to a unilateral 40% budget cut. As the Administrative Director of the Brookland Afterschool Arts
program, I would like to request that we receive full funding for the 2017/2018 school year.
I understand that the current administration has anticipated large budget cuts for the next fiscal
year from the federal government. However as you know, the population that we serve is 100%
below national poverty level, and the majority of our students do not have an art program in their
