Airtel’s history and organizational structure
Airtel has its mother company that is based in India in India, called Bharti Airtel and several other
subsidiary companies in close to twenty countries around the globe. For over ten years now, the
company has been regarded as a leader in the world of telecommunications. Bharti Airtel is
currently ranked as the second largest telecoms company after Vodafone. In terms of subscribers,
it is second only to China Mobile. In Africa alone, it operates in over 15 countries. A holistic
analysis of the company’s business model and management structure reveals a highly innovative
and successful company. Since its advent in the early 1990s, the mobile industry has recorded an
exponential growth rate in the world as a result of their convenience and reliability. Phones were
initially considered to be the preserve of the affluent members of the society who could afford the
purchase and operational costs of the same. However, this is no longer the same since they had
become a lot cheaper than when they were first introduced.
