1. List three ways to decrease a conflict situation. What are some pros and cons of
each of these approaches?
Accommodation, compromise, and competition are three ways to deescalate a
conflict situation. Accommodation can be a beneficial approach if the person is choosing
to be unassertive and cooperative because they value their relationship with the
opposing party more than their interests. On the other hand, this type of approach can
also negate the person from reaching their personal goals if they are choosing to neglect
their interests in the pursuit of avoiding disagreements. Compromise occurs when both
parties are willing to sacrifice something relevant to their interests to find a middle
ground. This approach is beneficial because it allows for everyone to have a say.
