Budding Rap Culture in India
Rapping
Rapping is a musical sort of vocal delivery that includes “rhyme, rhythmic speech,
and street vernacular”, that is performed or chanted in a very kind of ways in which,
sometimes over a backing beat or musical accompaniment. It’s a part of the wider
hip-hop culture, which includes the spoken word (the MC), the beats (the DJ), break–
dancing, and graffiti art.
What is so special about rap?
It is a new age poetry with rhythm like an embroidery, you see a beautiful picture but
at the back there are complex connected meaning which required breakdown to
understand.
Another thing that make it special is the ability to present raw and hard fact to the
masses same as Saadat hasan manto, speaking of which check song by Raftaar in
Manto movies to understand this aspect. That’s the reason it was popular among
Black community back in the days, it was their way to protest. No different than
Vande Matram or Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna for Indians.
