Dear Jessica (my sister):
In the spring semester of 2015 as one of my classes I took Buddhism. I had very little
knowledge about Buddhism. I assumed many things and believed many stereotypes of what
Buddhism was about. For one, I did not know that there was many forms of Buddhism, like Zen,
Mahayana, Theravada, and etc. Kind of like the different forms of Christianity I had though that
the Buddha was their god and thought that they had a weird way of praying. I also grew up with
the idea that one can only have one religion, and because I was raised Roman Catholic I could
only believe in The Holy Trinity. I have always been very open minded and I have always tried
to see different sides to every story. So when I started to learn about what Buddhism was really
about, I was very shocked.
