Hopkins death was remarkable because he brought up about “this worldliness” because he
lived life while he could instead of being certain of an “other worldliness. He claims he was so
happy with his life.
“Religion as a crutch” – religion can be seen as a protection from reality. A false comfort, to
some. “Bright Abyss” is his name for God. Whole idea of an afterlife can keep you from doing
what must be done or enjoying this life that we are in This-worldliness.
