On June 28, 2012, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a comprehensive
analysis of the Individual Mandate for health insurance under the Affordable care act. National
Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius 26 U. S. C. §5000A (2012). The Supreme Court
decided the case in a 5-4 decision to uphold that the individual mandate to buy health
insurance is a constitutional exercise of Congress’s taxing power.
Facts: in 2012 then President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act into law. Under the law it is mandated that all persons be covered under
health insurance or face a tax penalty. Many groups sued the Presidents administration
