Bragging Rights and Manly Fights
The Etruscans are the ones to blame and or thank for our ongoing infatuation with blood-
sport. The idea of someone’s pain bringing others pleasure is rather disturbing yet we have been
encouraging this idea since 80 C.E. Blood-sport originated in Rome and was considered to be a
ritual that honored the dead. Ironically, this ritual became a form of entertainment and is still
