Plessy versus Ferguson A Brief History with documents is a very informative book and
gives the readers an in-depth view on this specific court case. In 1896, The Supreme Court’s
Plessy versus Ferguson decision made legal a system of “separate but equal” racial segregation
which was not overruled until the year 1954. The case stemmed from an 1892 incident in which
African American train passenger Homer Plessy refused to sit in a car for black individuals
