Introduction of the Author
International Political Economy is a collection of research papers of 5 authors.
The editor (and contributor) of the book International Political Economy is BjörnHettne,
a Swede, who is a distinguished professor at the University of Gothenburg. He has written
extensively about the colonial history of India, European integration, ethnic conflicts,
international relations and development theory.
The second contributor to this book is Professor Stephen Gill is a professor of Political
Science at York University, and is known for his publications in Global Political Economy and
International Relations.
Robert W. Cox is considered one of the intellectual leaders of the British School of
International Political Economy. A former United Nations officer, he is currently serving as
Professor Emeritus at York University.
Kees van de Pijl is a Dutch Political Scientist who is Professor Emeritus at University of
Sussex.

James N. Rosenau was an international affairs scholar, and served as the President of the
International Studies Association.
All of the authors have publications to their name, however for the purpose of this book,
it is enough to mention that the list of publications on their Wikipedia pages do not mention
International Political Economy (IPE). This is, in my opinion, because the book contains essays
of the author’s on IPE, and the various parts of this book are connected under a very broad
overarching theme of IPE, and do not represent a collective effort to take the intellectual
discourse on the topic any further.
