The United States government does not try to brainwash people in today’s society, but
some other country still do the things that the party in a book 1984 does, even though those
are not strong force as in this book. People suffer by not having freedom in their life
because they cannot relax and get stress. People in a book 1984 are forced to obey the
party that has three central tenets, which are that “war is peace”, “freedom is slavery”, and
“ignorance is strength”. Are those tenets still existing in our society?
The first slogan “war is peace” is explained in chapter three. When the world is divided
into three states, the inner party need everyone to be on same side and ready to fight all
threats from other states to convince other states that war is happening outside of borders
of Oceania and to maintain peaceful state in Oceania.
However, war is opposite meaning with peace because war makes people unhappy. There
are wars going on somewhere in the world. The people in these countries do not seem
happy because they cannot eat enough food, and they always have to worry about their
safe. Their government also tries to get their people together, so the government can
control their country how they want.
Second slogan “freedom is slavery” relates to first slogan because second slogan means
government control of people. If people work for their government such as slave, they do
not get punished, so they get more freedom than people who are punished. That is not
