Imperial colonizers lack the moral authenticity to relieve indigenous people of political
and cultural freedom. Instead, imperialism function solely on oppression and addressed the
concerns of colonizers for natural resources and fuel income. Furthermore, the hindrance of
culture and sovereign identity of nation’s brought on by imperial ideology created economic and
political destruction for colonized people. Violence and war ensued reaching unstable living
conditions and plaguing the population into desolate existence.
Cultural differences amongst native and imperialistic colonizers were concise and
unambiguous. Imperials argued on behalf of Judeo-Christian superiority, racial purity, and
democracy mocking the already emplaced traditions of natives. Racial purity produced one
method of ignorance and inferiority-complex imperialist. Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species,
created an onset of scientific racial superiority in that it created the barrier of women and natives
from the non-Caucasian. His observations of the natural world and intellectualism
sensationalized racism and prejudice. Physical descriptions of non-whites would include, a face
that “is triangular” and “obese” tendencies. (97) Non-white characteristic and projection depicted
as inferior as possible. This included, self-indulgent, mindless, “glutton by nature, and. . . knows
the value of a certain amount of freedom.” (97) Count de Gobineau also describes his white
counterparts as the elite with super-intelligence and gleaming energy with remarkable abilities.
The influence of such writings spawned significant amount of superiority in one’s own race. One
that helped trademark an elitist attitude towards differences of a native’s culture. The ongoing
prominence of racism bred the public approval of imperialism and backed the political regime in
other regions. Imperial expansion demanded natural resources to support their own countries
demand on goods. Imperialist and Christian missionaries campaigned to conquer Asia and Africa
to oppose local governments and often by violent means. It was believed that, “people lacked

both culture and political institutions, the argument went, the imperial powers peacefully filled
up an “empty” or “savage” territory, to that territory’s benefit.” (34) Instead, what was faced was
the tyrannical colonial movement taking advantage at any sight of opportunity. Lack of
consideration towards native cultures was profoundly justified by imperialism. Ignorance
ignored rich and vast cultures. “Many imperial powers believed it their duty to “civilize” inferior
natives by bringing them new culture and ways of thinking. . . They worked to reform ideas
about the family and women’s roles, trying to turn women who were traders and agriculturalist
into middle-class housewives” (94) Women from indigenous land were granted a freedom that
Western women were refused, independence, and individual sovereignty that Western ideals
couldn’t allow. The New world heavily depended on the resources and influence of cultures from
