Problem Identification
The senior account manager of Boise Automation, Rob Allison, lost a $1.2 million dollar deal
with The Northern Papers Company.
Situation Analysis
The project was based upon coming up with a product that dealt with automating the
wood handling system of the company. Automation is a process of making a system functioning
on its own with the help of sensors, actuators, and controllers. It need two types of engineers to
design it: one who has in-depth knowledge of the process to be automated and one who knows a
